Pluriversal Reflection 1

As a living being what do you cherish? How do these ideas, beings, things, and/or experiences help you navigate through life?

This I found difficult to think about! I find it hard to answer these questions as I feel as if I have to commit to them and I am not allowed to change. I know that is not true! I also found it difficult cause I feel as if there is a lot. It is like when someone asks you want for your birthday or Christmas, and throughout the year you would have times where you say "this would be amazing" or "I would love to have that" but when someone asks your mind goes blank.

I cherish my relationships with people, family, and friends. The connections I make with them. The time I spend and the memories we share. These people I surround myself with determining who I am. They get me through tough times and push me to be the vision of myself and it is recycled. They keep me accountable to stay true to my self to myself.

Now that my mum and I live in different cities I realised how much I loved talking to her about my day of something that had just happened. I noticed how much I did it when I left home and realise I was needing to make calls at least once every two days sometimes twice a day if my day is exciting and eventful. It is the same with my flatmates whenever I do home and you offload our day to each other so we are ready to start the next one. I have found it is important for me to do this to maintain a healthy well-being.

This is not saying I am a complete extrovert and I can never be alone. I think it is just knowing that there are people around that care and you are those people for someone else. Having time to myself is just as important for my well-being. It is hard to make a strong connection with others if you don’t have a strong relationship with yourself. I think I could go off on an isolated island by myself for a little bit as long as I could call my mum and tell her what happened at the end of the day. Keywords in that were "for a little bit"!

Overall I think that the connection you make with people is so important. We are meant to interact with one and another and form relationships whether they be good or bad. We are not meant to go through it alone and I think people forget that.

I feel this whole blog is a bit wishy-washy! However, I do believe in what I have said or thought it may have come across quite hard to read. In conclusion, my relationships with my family and friends are what I cherish and they navigate me through life with their care, wisdom, and they encourage me to be the best I can be.

Pluriversal Reflection 2

I am going to expose myself and say that I didn’t know what the word indigenises meant. Even after the 3hour lecture, I was still needing to search for meaning. After asking many people and doing a few readings I have come to the conclusion the word indigenous is another word for native.

Indigenous futurism is connecting the past to the future. Using the knowledge of your identities and others to "create our own narratives." Combine our unique cultures and connections with people to "plan the future that is not yet here".

What left me thinking after our lecture the Maori word for past is the same as in front because you can see your past as you have been through it and experienced it. The Maori word for future is the same word for behind this is because you can't see you’re future. I found myself thinking about this for a while after. For a while, we have been told to think the past is behind us. Do not think about it because what is done is done and you can't change what has happened. This new way of thinking about it is telling us you look at the path to create a better future. Learn, develop, grown, and change all by reflecting on the past. Understanding the past helps lead to a more successful future. There are all those saying that give the advice to help us. Saying like listen to our elders and learn from our mistakes. We learn from our elders because they have been through it and experienced it. We learn from our mistakes because we have experienced and can now do better or just different in the future.

The Virgin Hyperloop is the start of a new and fast way of transporting. This supports my values of human connection as distance or location is a factor limiting physical human connection. Being able to travel effectively and efficiently reduces the time taken out of people's day, getting rid of restrictions on why people can physically connect.

I know personally, I have a friend who lives on the north shore, and the only reason why I struggle to see her a lot is the commute to that side on top of my busy lives. Also living in Auckland and my family living in Christchurch I don't get to see them enough because of the commute and the expense of travel. The Virgin Hyperloop is also a more sustainable way of commuting by using magnetic energy.

Or though this way of traveling is very futuristic it looks at how we did it in the past, how we do it now to think how it can be improved.
