We are what we choose,

the people that we let stay,

the things that we keep.

I found this poster more difficult than the first. I think it is because there was less guidelines.

I started the thinking process with a brain storm. This help me come up with an idea by making the policy, no idea is a bad idea and put all thoughts down. I picked three titles that I thought were best and tried to generate three images that conveyed the movie titles.

This was difficult, I struggled the draw the ideas I was thinking of. I couldn't portray what I wanted to through my draws. I decided to brain storm ways in my head remembering how successful the first brain storm was. I ended up choosing the movie title Take Control because of the meaning and I found more ways to portray this in my Movie poster.

I thought about people when they are in their own control.

How would they act and how would they feel. A free dancer gave off a sense of freedom in the movement. I did some sketches of dance positions, non that I thought were successful as I didn't get a strong enough sense of taking control.

When I thought about the word control and someone controlling something or someone I thought about remotes controlling robots. Then I took it a bit more old school and thought about puppets. We control puppets by pulling their stings or opening and closing their mouth.

We control them with our hands so I looked at different images of puppet strings as you can see the hands that are controlling the puppet. The far right drawing was the most successful because it is easier for viewer to read the drawing as hands and I considered what would be more time efficient on my lap top using photoshop.

My first attempt of drawing the hands I was pleased with the out come. I thought the form was successful as well as the hue and texture and the hands.

I experimented with the back ground of the poster and what hue would be the best fit for my theme. I researched what different hues symbolised.

Symbolism chart from Incredible @rt Department (date unknown)

Orange: "Energy, balance, enthusiasm, warmth, vibrant."

Red: "Energy, passion, love, desire, strength, power, all things intense and passionate."

Blue:"Peace, tranquility, calm, stability, harmony, unity, trust, truth, confidence, conservatism, security, cleanliness, order, loyalty."

I experimented all hues for a background and come to the conclusion red would be the most appropriate as it symbolised power and strength. Two key things in taking control of yourself.

I played around with the stings hanging off the hands and thought if someone has taken control they wouldn't be attached to puppet string so I thought the idea of the typography of the word control being cut free from the stings would be appropriate and portray the idea of taking control very successfully.

The chosen font I thought was strong and conserved. I believe the key word control had to be seen in capital letter to emphasise it.

For my composition I use the rule of thirds as I thought it has the right amount of simplicity.

Third one: The form of hands.

Third two: The lines acting as strings and the text "Take"

Third three: The text "CONTROL" and the lead actor with the other movie credits in the same proximity group.

For the typography in third three I use size hierarchy to show the importance of each text and use Similarity in the Gestalt principles of grouping to categorise the different text. I used the hue black for the text "CONTROL" as this hue also symbolises power.
