Two case studies have caught my attention. One uses the tool film to portray what the world could look like if time was replaced with money. Where because of this the rich lived forever and the poor died young and people stopped aging after 25. This movie gets viewers to think about two large factors of life and how lives are influenced by time and money. What decisions we make because of our situation with time and money. A very wealthy man in the movie lived for 150 years, he gives all his time way the man because he has had enough. With the number of years he had, he was immortal.
Another case study was the 'our friends electric" project by superflux. This was a smart home speaker that was proactive instead of reactive. This speaker we actually similar to what I thought about when I wrote a letter to my future self.
When I described it I said it would listen to everything say so it can plan my day, my breakfast, what I wear, and many more aspects of my life. This would scare some but it excites me.
"our friends electric" The speaker Tim, would ask the question why every time you would ask it something. From your answer, it would know for next time. An example of this is the one superflux use, the man asks Tim if it was going to rain today?. Tim asks "why?" The man replies "so I know whether to bring my umbrella or not."
The next day the buy says bye to Tim and Tim replies "don’t forget your umbrella it is meant to rain."
The smart speaker did not rely on the Man to ask about the rain after the first time the man asked. After the speaker knew why he asked, it was proactive and didn’t wait for the man to ask.
"Our friend electric" finds out the information about the user in a less terrifying way other than it listening to everything even off command. "Our friend electric" simply asks the question Why?
